Shoot to Thrill by AC/DC

Previously, I have lamented the song/movie promotion video because it is hardly ever done well. It’s usually just the best scenes cut from the movie and then back and forth to the band on the set of something that’s meant to look like the movie set but had only a fraction of the budget (oh god, did anyone see the Leona Lewis/Avatar one? It was like the new worse version of My Heart Will Go On. And we don’t need a new version of My Heart Will Go On even if it’s better!).

But this AC/DC clip from Iron Man 2? Good god, they did this one right!

It’s incredible! Merging the locations as if the Stark conference and the AC/DC concert were the same place. Like the Iron Man dancers were dancing on stage for Brian Johnson. Even the completely random scenes (Scarlett Johansen and Mickey Rourke) are sliced in so perfectly it’s as if the AC/DC audience are reacting to them instead of to the band.

I also have to enjoy the subtle comparisons between AC/DC and Robert Downey Jr both as aging rock stars that still totally have it.

Ok, so the mixed aspect ratio thing is annoying (particularly because it could have been fixed and it’s the one thing taking me out of the idea that AC/DC aren’t actually playing at the Stark conference) but other than that, this video makes me want to be an AC/DC fan… or see Iron Man 2.
