Whip my Hair by Willow Smith
I whip my hair back and forth.
I whip my hair back and forth.
I whip my hair back and forth.
I whip my hair back and forth.
Cannot. Get. This. Song. Out. Of. My. Head.
Essentially, anything that makes me want to dance gets an A+. Anything that makes babies and grandmas want to dance; A++. And a clap beat breakdown gets you bonus points.
But Willow Smith is 10 years old. And for whatever reason, I’m not comfortable having a 10 year old on my ipod. I know pop singers are getting younger and younger these days, but think about it. 10. When I was 10… hell, I cant even remember being 10. But still - is this appropriate? I’ve made so many posts where I sound like a conservative grandmother (and there will be more to come) but… I still dont think 10 year olds should be doing this. It’s not so much the song or the outfits; at least she’s not singing about the epic heartbreak that all these 16 year old Disney starts seem to know all about - it’s more that Willow just acts a lot older than 10. And I feel the kids are growing up way too fast these days.
Then again, compare it to something like 11 year old Jessi Slaughter and Willow looks like a perfect untouched angel. I guess it’s just my whole 23 years is beginning to show.
Still, the Smith family is forgiven cos they are all awesome and Willow’s debut will be a summer favourite. I may have started practicing to (one of many) choreography videos already…
