Things that move
Hudson - Against The Grain
In Your Arms - Kina Grannis
Two recent examples of artists using stop motion photographery to create something visually appealling for their music video.
Is it pretty much the worst thing ever that this doesnt impress me? It should, I know. I can only imagine the painstaking hours it took to create something like this but… it just doesnt impress me....

It’s two for one day here at The Vidz!
Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) by Backstreet Boys.
AND
Thriller by Michael Jackson.
There’s a very obvious reason I put these two together but let’s talk about MJ first. What can one say about the best music video ever made? Where do I even start? Is there anyone out there who doesn’t like this video?
I miss the days when 14...

Thinkin’ Bout Something by Hanson
Yes, that Hanson. They’re still a band and they’re actually a great one. My 8-year-old heart will always hold a soft spot for them (I once wrote a poem about Isaac) but how can you not a love a band that recreates one of the best scenes in movie history, and does so with a little bit of tongue-in-cheek.
Very few music videos are this much fun...
Last Friday Night (TGIF) by Katy Perry
Ok, if you haven’t actually watched this yet do so now before reading because it’s so much more fun as it comes along.
Glee kids, Rebecca Black, Kenny G, Corey Feldman! What more could you want??
OK, so you could argue the inclusion of Rebecca Black and the Glee kids is just because they’re “in” right now (I was going to say...

Feeling Good by Muse
Jesus. It’s been long enough hasn’t it? Apologies, dear reader(s). A few months back I started constructing my response to Lady Gaga’s Born This Way video. But while I was perfecting my thoughts into a well manicured, sharp and witty essay (because, if I ever post it, it will be an essay), she goes and makes two or three or fourteen new videos and now...

I Just Had Sex by The Lonely Island
I can’t wait until this song gets as big I’m On A Boat and it gets legitimately played in clubs where all the hipster kids who pride themselves on listening to The National, Fleet Foxes and Arcade Fire, and with their ironic mustaches and floral dress/doc martens combos race to the dance floor to sing every word.
The Lonely Island are awesome, I...

P.S.
So I totally have comments now! Thing is, you have to go to the actual tumblr page - you can’t comment from your dashboard (tumblr doesn’t like me messing with its settings, yo).
You can also recommend me, if so inclined. If you do it, I’ll buy you a cookie.

Fire Escape by Fanfarlo
This video is all sorts of beautiful, and probably - for all I go on about story telling - this is by far the best example I can give. Ok so I know it’s not got enough to do with the band and yes, a great clip of thrashing guitars and 5 dudes rocking out has it’s warranted place. But here is a perfect display of how a music video can be more then just 3 minutes...

Let Me Hear You Scream by Ozzy Osbourne
Oh. Why does this need to exist? Straight off the bat, the song is terrible. And I do mean, terrible. Just close your eyes and listen to it. It sounds like something a bunch of kids with long hair and black clothes who are trying to break into mainstream radio play by being a little bit metal would sing. Well, I suppose that is exactly what’s...
California Gurls by Katy Perry
A very very cute idea. A giant game of Candyland come to life? Oh, Ms Perry, what an adorable vision! And total props for getting Snoop Dogg in that suit. I mean, I bet he had no issues being lord of the gummi bears but that suit is quite hideous. Not surprisingly, boys can’t pull off being dressed in candy the way girls can. Candlyland incarnate seems like a...

Not Myself Tonight by Christina Aguilera
Has everyone in the world forgotten how to wear pants??? No, really. It seems like every female pop star between the ages of 16 to 60 has forgotten how to wear pants. Or shorts. Or even a skirt, ladies, I’m not fussy. And it seems that this loss of memory comes with age - early onset alzheimers, maybe? I know Madonna use to know how to wear pants,...

Underdog by You Me At Six
I really, really wanted to like this clip. Which is not to say that I don’t, I guess. It just could have been so much more - you know?
I very much enjoy the editing and the pace of the clip. I love all the shots of the band and think that specific set design, even though it’s just a band in a space works really well (except for those Orange amp stacks. My...
